How to Effectively Delegate Work to Anyone

Steps
Description
(Completed by the person doing the delegation)
Describe the work that is to be delegated. Details are good. Give the person, who will be doing the work, this description in writing =>
Describe how you want things to look (or be) when the delegated work is completed. Put this in writing too =>  
When does the work need to be completed?  
Special training, tools or resources needed to complete the work  
How often you will want to meet with the person doing the work to check on their progress (recommend weekly)  
Ask the person doing the work if they have any questions or concerns about doing the delegated work  
Provide the best way for the person doing the work, to contact you when they have questions or concerns  
Guidelines:
 
  • Trust the person to do good work
  • Allow the person to do the work their way, as long as it looks the way you specified above. NO Micro-management!
  • Show and verbalize your confidence in the person’s ability to do good work
  • Recognize and reward the person for the progress they are making, as well as for completing the work
